"Connecting: Stairways to . . . Exhibition at Lyndon House Arts Center
Friday, September 1, 2017
This exhibition will explore the many types of connections that occur while using stairways: entering, leaving, accessing, escaping, exploring and more. The multi-media installation will include several components, sculpture, photography, and video. The opening reception is planned for Thursday, September 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Houser writes “As an interior designer with a background in music, my work always has been sensitive to time, movement and performance in space. For me installation art is a natural outgrowth of interior design. My installations rely heavily on layering of information, offering you distinct experiences from a distance and up close. Each installation is site-specific and rarely could, or should be assembled in the same configuration at another location.”
Thom Houser is a Professor and Chair of Interior Design at the Lamar Dodd School of Art. He is a world traveler, working in and visiting the Middle East, Europe, Japan and many other locations.
The Lyndon House reviews proposals for exhibits by area artists and curators twice a year.
This exhibit went through that process and awarded an exhibition in the Lyndon House Arts Center programming.
The exhibition is on view September 1 - October 21. The 3thurs Artist Talk is scheduled for Thursday, October 19 at 6:00 p.m. All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours of Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Children must accompanied by an adult.
